TEKEYÉ® is a project that started from the necessity to develop a deeper study on musical rhythm and its universal conception, throughout the exploration of the physical and sonorous characteristics and the functionality of conventional objects. Over the past few years, one of the main interests for the group has been to explore the richness and diversity of many of the musical and cultural traditions around the world throughout their approach to percussion, which this year led the way to become the first exclusive artist of the world percussion company PERCUACTION®. TEKEYÉ® was founded in 2000 under the direction of Tupac Mantilla (M.M. New England Conservatory, Boston MA, USA) and it is based on the original idea of the British-American Group STOMP.

TEKEYÉ® is considered the number one experimental percussion group in Colombia and its trajectory in the artistic, cultural and corporative world places it amongst the best groups of its genre in Latin America. With more than 400 performances over the past years and multiple national and international tours, this creative project of 12 professional musicians, has become the image of the most prestigious multinational companies established in Colombia and has developed several advertisement campaigns for the most important media agencies in the country.

In 2007, the community programs TEKEYÉ® had done in Colombia for many underprivileged communities and several institutions for children over the past 5 years, summarized in the creation of the TEKEYÉ® FOUNDATION for children, a non-profit organization that helps kids with physical, social or economic disadvantages throughout music and art. The Foundation has already implemented successful programs in Colombia, Panama and the US.

TEKEYÉ® actually prepares its new show On the World as well as its second US Tour (September 2009) and second promotional Video Clip soon to be released.
All the compositions and choreographies are by Tupac Mantilla and the arrangements are by Tupac Mantilla and TEKEYÉ®.
