Description

South African musician Mavo Solomon is embarking on world wide tour, to promote the music of his debut album, iSiGiDiMi. The album was released under his own record label, Maverik Sounds. He runs the label with his business partner and music producer, Erik Paliani from Blantyre, Malawi. The tour begins in Johannesburg with a few confirmed shows, at the Dance Factory, on August 13, 2009. Mavo Solomon's music is about growing up in Africa, and his dreams about a progressive Africa. He quit his professional job as a well-paid Energy Analyst to pursue his love for music and the messages it carries. With a $1000, he would pay his band for extended touring into usually unreachable rural areas. How to support this campaign: 1. Use the select box below to choose a micro-loan amount. 2. last week Friday (Sept 18), my band and i entertained a vibrant crowd in the South African capital of Pretoria, at a jazz club called Cafe 52, which also doubles up as a local cuisine restaurant. Now for Cape Town!

Performed to an interesting crowd on August 28, in Queenstown, South Africa. What was special about this performance was that we shared the stage with a local band - a jazz band from the Art Centre. In addition to that, I was born and raised in Queenstown. I left in 1990 when my family moved to the coastal city of Port Elizabeth.

The Opening of the Africa-World Music Tour, went without a hitch at The Dance Factory, in the Newtown Cultural Precinct here in Johannesburg last night. Tonight being a Friday, the venue promises to be reasonably full. And of course, the band is always on fire.
